    Sawai,
your interesting article in the Bangkok Post today, didn’t state which side of the fence you sit on.
Do you support the Yellow or Red shirts? and what are your reasons for that support?

Roy, I will let the wiser readers decide and then carry out their conviction to the fullest.

    Dear Sawai,

Thanks for your Post article. I do hope you do not get the Dan Rivers treatment.

The present signs that folk will look at themselves and their behavior, with an outpouring of hate against the Red Shirts on the Twitterscape, look ominous.

Do you think you could write a sequel and address the issue of cowardice and intimidation and the role of the “education” system in reinforcing this?

    Ricky

Thank, Khun Ricky. Hate is non-Buddhist. But, unfortunately, many “Thai Buddhists” seem to have so much of it. You raise very important issues, especially “education” about which I have had so much encounter with many people over the years. It seems to me few Thais agree with me that the process of education starts from the womb and goes on until one dies. I have received so many comments and kind suggestions from readers, both via email and via the Post feedback page, of this article after it appeared in the Bangkok Post on May 26. But no hate mail so far – a surprise. I will think about all the comments and suggestions and perhaps will write a follow-up later.

Thanks, indeed, Khun Bob. I shall now embark on writing in English about the reading promotion foundation that I have set up a few years ago and a non-Thai speaking friend has been urging me to do for quite some time but I have resisted. When it is done, I will ask Khun Kosol, who is kind enough to spend time creating this website to share some of my work, to post it.
